Carbon Monoxide (CO) Disintegration Test Apparatus

Firstly make ensure, there should be sufficient quantity of under stated chemicals In Stock

(A) FORMIC ACID. (B) SULPHURIC ACID (CONC.). (C) EMPTY BOTTLE AS TRAP. (D) 40% KOH SOLUN. TO ABSORB CO2. (E).ALKALINE PYROGALLOL SOLUN. TO ABSORB 02.(F) ALKALINE PYROGALLOL SOLUN. TO ABSORB 02. (G) FUSED CACL2 TO ABSORB MOISTURE. (H) SILICA GEL (I) MAGNESIUM PERCHLORA TE TO ARREST MOISTURE. (J) EMPTY BOTTLE AS TRAP. (K) WATER (ASPIRATOR BOTTLE). (L) MEASURING CYLINDER.

This Instruments consists of two units :.

(A) Furnace with Blind Type Temperature Indicator-cum-Controller.
(B) Glass Apparatus.

(A) Place Furnace, Control Box and Glass apparatus on a table admeasuring 2ft. wide and 15ft. (approx) long. Table should be kept in a place where. Electric and Water supply should be near by. Proper assembly with correct alignment of the system has to be made as per sketch. Place appropriate Chemicals to different jars/vessels and apply vacuum grease to all joints to make ensure there should not be any leakage from any joints, stop cocks and rubber tubing.

(B) Three to Four Test samples of 50 mm. long & 30mm. dia is to made from the centre and exterior of two individual refractory. Test samples could be either of cylindrical, rectangular or prismatic. These samples are to be put into "Glass Cylinder" which is placed on "Furnace".

(C) Checking of CO leakage, Pour slowly Formic Acid into Sulphuric Acid, CO Gas generates and passes through jars/vessels, can be noticed in the form of bubles, otherwise tight properly all the joints and rearange stop cock passages.

(D) When there are no leakage, produce Carbon Monoxide (CO) Gas by pouring Formic Acid into Sulphuric Acid container (Flask) apply heat by spirit lamp, connect 'Furnance' with 'Control Box', main chord of Control Box with electric supply. Check proper earthing of Electric supply line before starting of Furnace. Switch 'ON' the Furnace and operate at (450'-500' C), temp. is to be maintained through Sunvic Energy Regulator and Blind Controller. Carbon Monoxide Gas passes through at a constant flow rate 2 lit/hr. (approx). Examine Test Sample from time to time for decolourisation, Carbon decomposition and finally cracking.

(E) Flow rate of CO is determined from the displacement of water in Aspirator Bottle. Flow rate of CO is controlled by minimising/maximising chemical reaction of Formic Acid & Sulphuric Acid (Conc.) Excess CO Gas Should be well ventilated/passed. through enough water/or to be burnt out.
