Thermal Conductivity Apparatus

Appartus for The Determination of Thermal Conductivity of Insulation Bricks for temperature upto 1000°C

The apparatus is constructed  more or less the similar way as per B.S. Specification No.1902. Part 1 A, 1966.

The main hot phase is constructed in a refractory tiles with even surface having kanthal wire as heating elements would on grooved refractory base. The apparatus is suitable for taking bricks of standard size (23x113x65 mm) and is lagged on all sides with insulating media. The heating and insulating system is housed in a suitable steel frame painted with hammertone. To minimise the loss of heat, the housing is constructed with high quality, insulating bricks and asbsstos-magnesia packing combined .

Temperature control.

(a) The temperature of the hot phase is col1trolled and maintained by an imported manual thermostat in combination with a salid state variable transformer and recorded by an edgewise type Pyrometer with Cr/A! thermocouple which is placed at the centre of the hot plate.

(b) The cold zone temperature is measured by a dial type pyrometer with Iron-constantly thermocouple for temperature upto 300 C. The whole temperature control unit is housed seperately to facilitate easy handling and operation.

Calorimetric Arrangement .

A copper calorimeter is supplied along with the apparatus having 3 holes to insert therometers. Cover is also provided to minimise the atmospheric contact of the calorimeter.
